Who am I?

Full-stack software engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area, California with a passion for learning and figuring out innovative and appropriate uses for new (or at least new to me) technologies.

What motivates me?

Having been someone who has supported both (painfully) legacy and greenfield software deployed 'in the wild', I'm intimately aware of the impact that technical decisions have on the always elusive balance between time-to-market, MVP (minimum viable product), ease of support and technical debt. This mindset of balance drives all of my design decisions.

Why is your site so plain? Does anyone ever use vanilla JS and plain HTML anymore? Ever heard of React?

One of the reasons for making this site was actually so that I can gain experience with NOT using 2 GB of NPM or Nuget dependencies to build a simple static site. Turns out that contrary to recent advice, a lot can be done with the original web 'stack'!

Is what I've created ready to handle 1 million requests a second? Probably not, but I didn't need it to be, and sometimes that's good enough for simple things that you don't want to invest a ton of brainpower into!
